About the WBIF
The Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF) is a joint blending facility of the European Commission, participating Financial Institutions (FIs), bilateral donors and Western Balkans countries to deliver funding for strategic investment projects in beneficiary countries.
The WBIF was launched in December 2009 by the European Commission, together with the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and several bilateral donors. KfW and the World Bank subsequently joined the Framework.
To date, the WBIF has approved €493 million grants for 163 projects, mobilising priority investments of €13.9 billion. Total signed loans to WBIF-supported projects amount to €3.7 billion.
