Mergecoil: Snake 2048

Mergecoil is a free browser puzzle that combines the movement of Snake with the number merging of 2048. A tile joins the end of the snake when collected. Matching segments at the tail fuse, and the new segment can trigger another merge; each merge shortens the body and opens space. The design started with a question: could growth in Snake be reversible? Tail-only merging makes pickup order matter as much as steering. A descending tail such as 8–4–2 can turn a final 2 into a chain through 4 and 8 to 16. The goal is to reach 2048 without blocking the next route. It runs in the browser without an account. Arrow keys or WASD steer on desktop; touch players can swipe or use the optional direction pad. The site also offers a separate arena mode.
