I work as a data analyst. As many of you know, when it comes to data, everybody wants to do the fun stuff like ML, visualisations etc; but most of the time you are cleaning somebody else's bad data. I can't recall how many times I have painstakingly traced down the latest version of a dataset; setup a VLOOKUP or a pivot table to update something; correct bad references in Excel formulas... you name it. Yes you can do things in Python but that introduces another can of worms around versioning/testing/tech debt. I had the idea to start a side project on all these small little tools with repeat use cases in data cleaning and analysis. I think with AI being better and better at coding, I can maintain this over time. The first tool I am focused on making is Merge, which helps you combine two CSV files. Here it is: https://datograde.com/tools/csv-merge You can do this in five ways currently: Insert the new rows Update based on a key Upsert based on a key Inner join Outer join This is supposed to replace repetitive workflows in Excel that is manual and messy.
