Vector Privacy

Greetings, Makers! Due to the rise of the unsolicited surveillance state across big tech and mainstream messengers, along with data leaks for personal identities (through third-party KYC collectors), we have decided to build a free, open-source alternative that doesn't require KYC of any kind. We have been building this for the past 14 months or so and it is still in Open Beta. For those that might be interested, would love to have your honest take and feedback. We still have a good amount of work to do to make it suitable for global adoption, but everything is in the works. Our biggest UX inspirations would be a combination of Discord + Telegram combined, as long time users of both platforms, but the rapid decline and credibility of both platforms has us not looking for a new alternative, but instead creating one. Vector Privacy is a free, open-source, decentralized messaging application built on a Privacy by Principle philosophy, developed by Formless Labs and available on Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android. It operates on the Nostr protocol, a censorship-resistant relay network with over 850 public nodes across 40+ countries, meaning there is no central server to shut down, no company that can be pressured, and no single point of failure. Account creation requires zero personal information, no email, no phone number, nothing. Privacy is enforced at the protocol level through Message Layer Security (MLS), the IETF-standardized cryptographic protocol providing end-to-end encryption with forward secrecy and post-compromise security for both private and group chats. Media is handled through the Blossom protocol for decentralized, tamper-proof file storage, and the app also includes Viktor, a locally-run AI chatbot that keeps even AI interactions completely off-network and private.
