Robot Dog KLEIYN

Developed with an active waist joint architecture, KLEIYN is able to wedge itself between two walls and climb vertically, similar to a human rock climber. The robot measures approximately 760 mm in length, weighs around 18 kg, and features 13 degrees of freedom, including a dedicated waist DOF that enables body flexion and adaptive wall interaction. Unlike conventional quadruped robots that are limited to ground movement, KLEIYN achieves vertical climbing speeds of up to 150 mm/s, allowing it to navigate chimney-like environments with high efficiency. Each leg joint is powered by the CubeMars AK70-10 KV100 robotic actuator, delivering up to 24.8 Nm of torque. These actuators provide high torque density, fast response, and quasi-direct drive characteristics, enabling stable wall contact and smooth climbing motion. With the combination of an active waist mechanism and high-performance joint actuators, KLEIYN demonstrates a new direction for quadruped robotics—expanding from ground locomotion to full 3D mobility in complex environments.
