StoryVocab

StoryVocab is a web app for people learning Chinese through reading. The idea came from a common problem: many learners know some Chinese words, but real reading still feels too hard. Texts are often either too easy, too difficult, or disconnected from the vocabulary learners actually need. StoryVocab helps by turning reading practice into a more approachable workflow. It supports story-based vocabulary learning, HSK-level reading practice, Original Vocabulary mode, and Simplified Reading. Learners can meet Chinese words inside meaningful context instead of only memorizing isolated word lists. I built it with Next.js, React, and a FastAPI backend, with AI-assisted reading generation and structured guide pages for learners, teachers, and HSK students.
