You select a clear, front-facing image (JPG, PNG, or WebP) and preview it in your browser. The image is only sent for the paid search after the server verifies your one-time Stripe payment. Once verified, the service runs a provider comparison and returns a private report that lists possible matches ordered by visual similarity, along with similarity context and direct links to the public pages where the images appear. The report is designed to support careful human review: similarity helps prioritize what to inspect, but it does not certify identity, ownership, or legal status. Sherlock Search emphasizes responsible use, requiring users to treat the face, the source page, and the timeline as separate evidence and to corroborate with independent sources. Media retention is limited to up to 24 hours, and technical failures before completion trigger an automatic refund.
