AI Manga Translator

AI Manga Translator is an AI-powered web app built to make untranslated manga, manhwa, manhua, and webtoons easier to read. The problem I wanted to solve was simple: translating manga with traditional tools is frustrating. Readers often need to extract text with OCR, copy it into a translator, figure out which translation belongs to which speech bubble, and constantly switch between the translated text and the original page. AI Manga Translator turns that multi-step process into a single workflow. Users can upload a manga image or an entire chapter, choose a target language, and receive a translated version of the original page. The system detects dialogue and narration, translates the text, and reconstructs it inside the manga while preserving the artwork, speech bubbles, panels, and overall page layout as much as possible. It supports manga, Korean manhwa, Chinese manhua, and vertical webtoons. In addition to JPG, PNG, and WEBP images, users can upload full chapters using ZIP, CBZ, PDF, and EPUB files, making it possible to translate multiple pages together instead of processing them one by one. The translation pipeline combines several stages: - Manga text detection and OCR - Page and speech-bubble understanding - AI-powered multilingual translation - Context-aware translation across comic content - Text removal and image processing - Automatic text layout and reconstruction - Multi-page and full-chapter processing - File parsing for ZIP, CBZ, PDF, and EPUB - Continuous reading and original/translated page comparison One of the main design goals was to make the result feel like translated manga rather than an OCR output. The translated dialogue stays connected to the original artwork and reading flow, so users can focus on the story instead of manually matching text with panels. The project is built as a web-based AI processing pipeline, combining computer vision, OCR, language models, image processing, file handling, asynchronous processing, and a browser-based reading experience. AI Manga Translator is especially useful for readers who discover raw manga or untranslated chapters and want a fast way to read them in their preferred language without manually translating every speech bubble.
