Commity
Commity is an accountability app for people who keep skipping the gym, the library, or any place they promised themselves they'd go and actually keep on going.
You pin the place on a map, pick your days and hours, and put a small amount of money on it. When you show up, the app checks you in with GPS and you pay $0. Skip a day and the stake is charged.
The problem it solves: habit trackers are easy to ignore because missing a day costs nothing. Here it costs something real, so you actually go. On Premium, lost stakes go to a charity you pick (UNICEF, WWF, Doctors Without Borders and others) and you get the receipt by email. On solo option, for both premium and free plan, a comeback lets you win part of a missed stake back by showing up again.
There's also a duo mode where you commit together with a friend, a leaderboard, a journal, and an owl mascot that celebrates with you. Your first week is free and needs no card.
How I made it: one Flutter codebase for iOS and Android. The backend is Supabase (Postgres with row level security, edge functions in TypeScript, pg_cron to settle each day). Stripe handles cards and charges. Check-ins use native geofencing with an offline fallback, and push notifications go through APNs and FCM. The owl animations are Lottie files generated by a script, and the website is plain HTML and CSS.
Stack: Flutter, Dart, Supabase, PostgreSQL, Deno, Stripe, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Lottie.
